Why is Sightbox closing?

On October 28, Johnson & Johnson Vision announced that it will cease customer-facing operations for Sightbox, its U.S.-based online contact lens subscription service. The company announced that this strategic decision will enable it to focus its connected commerce investments, which remain a priority, in other program areas.

What will happen to my Sightbox membership, will I receive my contact lenses?

Sightbox will provide services to existing members based on their member status:

  • Members with an existing Sightbox prescription: Sightbox will ship members their remaining annual supply of contact lenses free of charge.
  • Members who have completed an eye exam but do not have a finalized prescription: As long as a prescription is finalized by December 1, 2019, Sightbox will ship members their annual supply of the prescribed contact lenses free of charge.
  • Members who have not completed their eye exam: As long as the eye exam was scheduled prior to October 28, 2019 and completed by November 22, 2019 and the prescription is finalized by December 1, 2019, Sightbox will ship members their annual supply of the contact lenses prescribed free of charge. Members who are unable to finalize their prescription by December 1, 2019 will still have their eye exam covered but will not receive contact lenses.
  • Members who are unable to complete an exam: If members are unable to complete an exam by November 22, 2019, any payments will be refunded, and they will not receive Sightbox services.

How do I renew my Sightbox subscription?

Sightbox will not accept any membership renewals or new subscriptions.

I signed up for Sightbox, but haven't had my eye exam yet - what do I do?

If members are unable to complete an eye exam by November 22, 2019, they will have any payments refunded and will not receive Sightbox services. Please contact support@sightbox.com with any questions or concerns. We will continue to provide online support through December 20, 2019.

Will my upcoming (scheduled) exam still occur and be covered?

Sightbox will cover eye exams for new members who have signed up and completed an exam by November 22, 2019. The exam must have been scheduled by Sightbox prior to October 28, 2019. Sightbox will also provide members with an annual supply of contact lenses free of charge once the prescription is received, as long as the prescription is finalized by December 1, 2019. Please contact support@sightbox.com with any questions or concerns. We will continue to provide online support through December 20, 2019.

What will happen to the remaining months of membership? Will I receive my contacts?

Sightbox will ship existing members their remaining annual contact lens subscriptions free of charge in one final shipment no later than December 20, 2019. This includes current members with a current prescription, as well as members who have an eye exam completed by November 22, 2019 and a prescription finalized by December 1, 2019. Members will not be billed for any further Sightbox services.

I need to reschedule my exam - what should I do now?

As of November 1, 2019, we will not be able to reschedule any eye exams. We will refund members for any payments made to Sightbox if an exam has not been conducted.

How long before the remaining contacts will be sent to me?

Sightbox final contact lens shipments will be processed and sent to UPS by December 20, 2019 or sooner. Members will be provided with tracking information at that time. The actual delivery date of contact lenses will be sometime after that and will vary based on UPS delivery schedules and member locations.

Will I be billed for the outstanding portion of my membership?

How can I obtain a copy of my prescription?

Sightbox will provide all members, with a non-expired prescription, a downloadable copy of their prescription by December 20, 2019.

What will happen to my personal data?

All accounts and data are being maintained and safeguarded per all relevant legal and privacy regulations, as well as all member and customer agreements.

What will happen to my outstanding referral credit?

The 20/20 referral program was retired in 2019. Any pending Ambassador referrals will be paid by the end of November 2019.

How do I contact Sightbox for assistance and how long will customer service be supported?

Please contact support@sightbox.com, where we will be providing customer support through December 20, 2019 to answer any member questions or concerns.
